My love affair with Aripo Falls

There are many beautiful waterfalls hidden throughout the trails of the North Coast of Trinidad but one that I particularly enjoy is the stunning Aripo Falls. This small, cute, gorgeous waterfall is located in the Heights of Aripo and it is the waterfall that I wish I had in my own backyard (A Girl could dream…. can’t she?) 😁 πŸ˜‚ πŸ₯°

The hike to Aripo Falls is a short one and it only takes about 15 to 20 mins to descend down the hill to the waterfall πŸ’¦ It is a good hike for first timers because it is short🌳  πŸŒ· 🌹 However, the ascent back to the start of the trail is challenging for some because of the steepness of the trail so if you really struggle with hills or have bad knees, this may not be the hike for you β›° πŸŒ„ It usually takes between 20 to 35 mins to return to the start of the  trail from the waterfall πŸ§—πŸΏβ€β™€οΈ πŸ§—β€β™‚οΈ

I have been fortunate enough to visit this location on at least ten occasions from my first visit on November 4th 2017 to my last visit on March 7th 2020. The first time we visited this spot, the waterfall was overflowing and the water level was quite high in the river πŸ’¨ πŸ’§ 🌞 Since then, the water level has gradually reduced, the water is no longer spilling over the pool at the base of the waterfall even in the height of the rainy season. The water is still very clear, pristine and cold as it was when we first visited. Another great benefit of this waterfall is that there are never many persons at this location πŸ„πŸ½β€β™€οΈ πŸŠπŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ πŸŠπŸ½β€β™‚οΈ

You maybe a little reluctant to jump in because the water is always cold but once you go in, you won’t regret it. It is a really beautiful spot and is one of my favorite places to visit when I am feeling for a short hike to a lovely location. The pool is deep in parts (some persons even jump off the rocks into the pool below) but there are also places where you can sit on the rocks and still just get your feet wet.

This is one of the places that I will surely be visiting as soon as things get back to normal….   πŸ™‚ πŸ€—

Thanks for reading. Have you been here before? What is your favorite short hike?

Much Love

    1. Hey, if you are not going with a hiking group it could be an issue to pass through the fields with the watercress, however, a better option, with parking and facilities is to contact Aripo Cottages. I will find the link and send. They have another access route to the waterfall, a pool area and sitting area, so you can make a full day adventure of it,
