Off the beaten path …. my top 3 North Coast beaches.

There are many benefits to living on a small island such as my beautiful twin island Republic, Trinidad and Tobago  but my favorite one is the beaches. I absolutely love to go to the beach, I honestly don’t even need to bathe in the water to have a good time, just being there is sometimes good enough. Today’s post is about some of my favorite North Coast Beaches that are off the beaten path πŸ’§ 🌀 πŸ’¦

Yes, almost every Trinbagonian has been to Maracas beach and every Caribbean person has probably heard of  our infamous Maracas Beach bake and shark but  if you journey further along the North Coast Road you will find some other amazingly beautiful spots that I honestly think are more beautiful than Maracas (I SAID WHAT I SAID!)  πŸ˜ 😜 So here goes, my top three North Coast beaches that are off the beaten path:

100 Steps

This honestly is my number one spot in Trinidad. I absolutely love it. On a perfect sunny day there is no other place that you will want to be. When the tide is low, you have the added benefit of traversing the cave on the right side and accessing the other side of the beach. It is an awesome spot 😍

The other side of the beach….

Damien Bay

This spot we only recently discovered on a random drive through Blanchisseuse 😎 I was truly surprised when we found this place and also to discover that this beach was actually quite big. In addition, there were some lovely steps at the eastern end that led to a walkway and another small enclave beach. I couldn’t believe it. How could I have lived in Trinidad and Tobago for 30 years and this was my first time visiting Damien Bay, wow ‼️

Quiet spot to relax

Yara Bay

I have never seen more than a handful of persons on this beach, and I am happy for that. It is a peaceful quiet spot, perfect for a relaxing evening with some friends. Space is not an issue and there is also a beautiful staircase to the left of this beach that leads to a river and the other side of the bay πŸ˜ƒ πŸ˜„

So if ever you are heading for another North Coast Adventure, be sure to venture beyond Maracas and Las Cuevas Beach and have some fun on some of these lesser known but equally as beautiful spots πŸ™‚

  1. I’ve always known about Damien Bay, because that’s my husband”s name and it so happens that he’s from Maraval and always tells me of how nice Damien Bay is. I just never went there. I Always go to Las Cuevas & Maracas, but I’ll sure be visiting when we come home in the near future.

  2. Lol! I had to laugh because when I visited Trinidad couple years ago, my friends made a beeline for Maracas because they said I MUST try bake and shark. It was fun. I wasn’t a big fan of Maracas tho because the waters are so rough! Jeez! Felt like hands trying to pull me out to sea, lol. I’d love to return and visit these other beaches though.

    1. Yes for sure, according to the time of the year the sea could be rough up by Maracas but these other beaches are close by and are worth a visit next time you come πŸ™‚

  3. Definitely 100 steps is great but gotta say my favourite north coast beach is Paragrant. Difficulty aside, its waters are calm and atmosphere serene and inviting. An overnight camp there will happen soon XD
