Book Review: This Tender Land by William Kent Krueger

“Our former selves are never dead. We speak to them, arguing against decisions we know will bring only unhappiness, offering consolation and hope, even though they cannot hear.”

Wow…. what a great book! Rating 20/10❤️

This Tender Land by William Kent Krueger was an amazing, gripping, well written, heart-breaking, compelling story of four orphans who were forced to leave The Lincoln Indian Training School where they lived and embark on an epic journey to find a new place to call home😰 As they journeyed through “this tender land” not only did their landscapes change but their views of life changed, their way of thinking changed and in turn, the group dynamics began to change along the way. 😊 The entire journey was a lot like real world, life and experiences have a way of changing you, you are not the same person that you were ten years ago or even last year, hopefully.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a fascinating read and I really felt like I was in the canoe with these kids not knowing what tomorrow will bring, hoping for the best but expecting the worst.☺️☹️ It is a real page turner and you will not regret reading it. The plot is very well developed and as you continue reading you come to love and understand all of the characters. Do yourself a favor and get yourself a copy!

“If we were perfect, the light He shines on us would just bounce right off. But the wrinkles, they catch the light. And the cracks, that’s how the light gets inside us. When I pray, Odie, I never pray for perfection. I pray for forgiveness, because it’s the one prayer I know will always be answered.”

Have you read this book as yet? What did you think of it? 😊

Much Love,

Celly
