Hike to Zorro Falls πŸ’¦

I feel like I am constantly writing about waterfalls along our North Coast of Trinidad 😰 but the fact of the matter is there are so many in the Maracas – Blanchisseuse area, it is a treasure trove for hikers. If you are a hiker and you live close to this area, you real get through in life! πŸ₯° There are easy hikes, like this one to Zorro Falls πŸ’¦ or more challenging hikes like a hike to Paria Bay and Waterfall.

A morning at Zorro Falls

Zorro Falls πŸ’§ is located at the base of the El Tucuche Mountain β›° on the Blanchisseuse side. It is a short, easy and scenic hike like many others in the area for example Avocat Waterfall or Sapphire Falls. Our crew, the Hikers United Hiking Club enjoy doing this hike not only weekends but also sometimes on a Friday afternoon ☺️.

The trail is so beautiful, I love walking along the river

The starting point for the hike to Zorro Falls is at the end of Zorro Road 🚘. This road is after Maracas Beach and Tyrico Bay 🏝 but before Las Cuevas Beach πŸ–. One thing to note is that this road crosses the river on three occasions however, the water level is usually low so even low regular cars such as my Toyota Aqua can cross. After reaching to the end of the road, we usually park in the yard of the Rasta Man. He or a family member is usually at home and they charge 25- 30TT πŸ’° per car. This is where we begin our hike.

The hike usually takes from 20 mins to 30 minutes depending upon the speed of the hikers. Most of the time you are walking along the trail however or within the river. Clearly, this is not a hike to do on a very rainy day 🌧 or day after there has been several days of heavy rainfall β›ˆ in the area. There is one point in which you walk through a gorge which has water that reaches me a little bit above my waist (I am 5 ft 6″). Following this, you need to climb up on some rocks πŸͺ¨and make your way cautiously across some slippery rocks to the other side. At this point thou, you are less than 5 minutes from the waterfall πŸ’¦πŸ˜.

The water is always refreshingly cold at Zorro Falls πŸ’¦ and the it isn’t that deep except closest to the base of the falls. Also, if you look closely from the left side of the waterfall you can see Angel Falls higher up the mountain.

Heading into the mini-Gorge

Have you ever been to Zorro Falls? What did you think of it? ☺️
