Wow. There are some places that are so beautiful that you wonder if it is even realβ€οΈ. Marianne Gorges is one of those spots for me. God surely took His time creating this lovely location.
Let me tell you a little bit about the picture-perfect Marianne Gorgesπ¦ in Blanchisseuse, Trinidad…….

Marianne Gorges is located in the village of Blanchisseuse off the Blanchisseuse Road, after the turn off for Avocat Waterfall if you are using the North Coast route. The hike is an easy one, through ankle high water but it is the drive to this spot that is long (about 1 hr 20 mins drive from Maracas Bay). However, even thou the drive is long, Marianne Gorges is worth it …. can I go this weekend ππ€Hmmm.

Who can do this hike?
As the hike is so easy, I think it is a perfect hike for first time hikers, older persons, persons with injuries but still want to do some exercise or for families π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦. It took us only about 15 minutes to reach to the gorges so before you know it, you have arrived at your lovely destination.

What I love about this spot?
It is difficult to resist bathing in Marianne Gorges as the aqua blue water in the gorges invites you to come in. It is a beautiful spot espeically on a hot day when the sun is in all its glory. Even if you had no intention of bathing ππ₯½π©³π©±, somehow, you will find yourself in the water. The water is crystal clear, and when the sun hits it, it really is a magical place.

βSome places are so beautiful, no photograph can ever do them justiceβonly the soul can truly capture their essence.β Unknown
Key Points:
The drive is the most painful part of this hike. The Blanchisseuse road is paved in parts but there are many potholes in other areas, so take your time driving. I drove my small car (Toyota Aqua) and was able to drive comfortably to the parking spot, so no, you do not need an SUV to do this drive, it is better in a SUV / Truck but it is not necessary. Just take your time π
As always, safety is key, so go with a group. It is best to hike with a hiking group with persons who are familiar with the trail. Groups such as Hikers United are equipped with life jackets, hike leaders who know first aid, safety equipment, first aid kits with your safety and enjoyment of the hike as our top priority.

Final Thoughts:
So if you have a list of places that you want to visit in Trinidad and Tobago, be sure to add this spot to your list π. Yes, the Blanchisseuse Road is not fully paved, but Marianne Gorges is worth the drive.
Much Love,

The water’s colour is so beautiful! Happy to hear that small cars can make it there easily, as I haven’t “upgraded” yet. I quite love my Toyota Vitz lol
