I am back! πAfter a one year hiking hiatus, it feels so good to be hiking again. Oh how I missed the great outdoors π²πΊπ§, the mosquitos, the sun in your eye, the sweaty feeling, the workout on my legs, the wet socks, the early mornings, the rushed breakfast, the junk food for lunch…. I missed it all and I am happy to be back π

For my first hike in about a year, I visited one of my favorite β£οΈspots, the beautiful Turure Water Steps in Valencia. This is one of the most scenic trails in Trinidad and Tobago and it is a hike that I always suggest for first time hikers to try or families as the trail is wide and not too difficult for the average person. There is only one uphill portion of note and it really is over very quickly, before you know it you have already made it to the top. So don’t worry if you never hiked before, if you don’t exercise much, this is the perfect hike for you to try. Not too long but not too short either π¦.

Turure water steps is a spot that I have been to, too many time to count. We usually take hikers to this location at least twice a year but personally, I enjoy going here each and every time. To me it is one of the most beautiful trails in Trinidad and Tobago, at some points you are climbing over rocks, walking through the river, or trekking uphill on land π³π³π³…..it is both peaceful and therapeutic.

“I firmly believe that nature brings solace in all troubles.” Anne Frank

There are numerous river crossings on this hike, on a sunny day π, the water is clear, cold and ankle height, on a rainy day βοΈ, if it has rained a lot in the area, the water could be brown, and knee height or higher “the river come down” as we Trinis say. So be careful.
