Jamaica 🇯🇲 Land meh love – Dunn’s River Falls 🌿💦

Now, I am a hiker at heart ❤️…. I love to visit places that are off the beaten path, not touristy and well developed but the places that the locals would visit but there are some locations in every country that I feel every foreigner should visit even if it is the most popular touristy spot in the country☺️. If in France🇫🇷, I want to visit the Eiffel Tower, if in England, Buckingham Palace 🏰(hopefully for the changing of the guard), if in Canada, Niagara Falls 💦 and when in Jamaica….Dunn’s River Falls is one of the those landmark must-visit locations for me❤️ and I was happy that I was able to visit there with a couple of my favorite people in July 2023.

I have visited Dunn’s River Falls 💦 in the past when I was a kid and also a second time in 2009 when I was attending University of the West Indies in Mona, Jamaica but this was my first time back since then and it did not disappoint🥰. I honestly, have no problem visiting Dunn’s River Falls in the future because I always have such a good time, the place is stunningly beautiful☺️, God clearly took his time creating here…… it is just an extra special, memorable spot perfect for persons of all ages🙏.

The World Famous Dunn’s River Falls 💦 and Park is the quintessential touristy spot located in Ocho Rios, Jamaica right opposite the Dolphin Cove 🐬 which is another amazing location you can check out. Here are my top 5 reasons that you should put Dunn’s River Falls and Park on your list of must visit locations in Jamaica  🇯🇲:

⭐️ A slice of Heaven🏝– this is one of the most stunningly beautiful locations in all of Jamaica. It really is a nature lover’s paradise. I know there are many amazing locations in Jamaica (if you want to see some, check out my friend’s blog .. Adventure from Elle), but for me, Dunn’s River Falls still holds a special place in my heart💗. I absolutely love it here and can’t wait to visit again. Yes the water is a little cold at first but it is so clear and pristine 🥰

⭐️ Facilities: There was safe and secure parking for your vehicles 🚗🚃🚕, easy entry to the park and falls (we did not have to wait long in line – but we were there early). There are also a plethora of bathrooms and changing rooms 👙🩱🩳 and lockers for your bags. There was also an area where you can get food🍕🍟 and something to drink 🥤all within the park. Dunn’s River Falls and Park is also wheelchair accessible and you can get very close to the falls on a wheelchair using the ramps.

⭐️ Many access points to the falls: If you want to climb the waterfall 💦 from the beginning, you can walk all the way down to the beach 🏖 and start at the bottom and make your way up. However, there are many access points along the way so you can start midway up or start at the bottom and climb a quarter of the waterfall and walk the rest along the pathway…. the choice is yours☺️. Also, if you want you can wait on a tour guide who will show you where to pass and assist you as you climb the falls.

⭐️ Affordable : The cost 💰 for entry was $25 USD for tourists. There was an additional cost for the locker (I think around $10 USD but you got some of that money back when you returned the key). I was not aware of the lockers beforehand but found them so useful for us to store all our belongings safely and securely before we climbed the falls. Also, for all the facilities at your disposal, I found the $25 USD price to be well worth it☺️.

⭐️ The Shopping Area: If this is the only place you are visiting, the shopping area 🛍was not bad and there were surprisingly many stalls with arts and crafts for sale and also some clothes 👙👖👚. We ended up buying some beautiful small wooden sculptures and had our names engraved in them.

One thing to note, because this is one of the main attractions in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, it is extremely busy and you can often see many big busloads 🚍🚍🚍🚍 of tourists arriving at the falls. I strongly suggest that if you are trying to avoid the crowds, you go as close to the opening time as you can and also during the offseason if possible ☺️. However, all in all, whenever you go, I am sure you will have an amazing time 💦🌿.
