Jamaica Land meh love – Hike to Blue Hole๐Ÿ’™

Honestly, there are so many lovely spots in Jamaica but for me, a nature lover, a hiker and a lover of waterfalls, Blue Hole is one of my favorite spots ๐Ÿ’™.

Blue Hole is located in the parish of St. Ann in a community called Thatch Hill. The entire Blue Hole area is a series of small and large waterfalls ๐Ÿ’ฆand pools with the most beautiful water that you will ever see (actually it reminds me of the Blue Lagoon in Iceland just cooler in temperature). I still could picture this spot in my mind and reflect on the lovely day I had with my family here. Places like this make me wish that I lived and worked in Jamaica full time… imagine taking a weekend trip to Ocho Rios and spending the day at Blue Hole. What a wonderful life! ๐Ÿ˜

Our tour guide was Mickey and he spoke to us about the history of the area. One of the interesting things he said was that the area was developed into the facility you see today by the villagers. They came together and helped to organize the bathrooms ๐Ÿšป, parking, tour guides, stairs, changing rooms etc. As a Trinbagonian and a hiker, I found this inspiring and a powerful example of how ecotourism ๐Ÿ’ฆ can be explored to its full potential once people come together and work towards a common goal. Yes, there was an entrance fee of 20 USD ๐Ÿ’ฐ per person for international visitors but I found Blue Hole was well worth the entrance fee. The experience we had on that day was priceless โ˜บ๏ธ.

Blue Hole ๐Ÿ’ฆ is perfect for the entire family, from the adventurous person who wants to walk to the top and swim, swing from ropes and jump off waterfalls as they make their way back down (as my friends and I did), or the person who just wants to relax in the water and swim. There is somewhere and something to do for everyone ๐Ÿ˜„.

My only complaint is that I wish I had more time, I think I need a full day (from early in the morning, till about 5pm), we spent about 1/2 of the day here and it was not enough, I want to go back ๐Ÿ˜. Also, this is a popular spot so try to either go early in the morning if you want to avoid the crowds, it could get very very busy depending on the time of the day and the time of the year.

Blue Hole is a must visit on your next trip to Jamaica! ๐Ÿ˜šHope you visit sometime, I surely hope I get to go again.

Much Love,

Celly
